Exciting Beginnings

Hello! Welcome to the first of, what I hope will be, many posts to this theatre blog; To See Or Not To See. I've been sitting on the idea of creating a blog/website for such a long time and I finally decided that the time had come to bite the bullet and give it a go. I'm so excited to be sharing my thoughts and opinions on the world of theatre, which is something that I care very deeply about. I've got lots of ideas and discussions that I can't wait to share with you all!

I've been reviewing theatre for just over a year now for two websites, and my love of reviewing has really grown through that and helped me to build my base for what I want this blog to be about.

Ultimately I want to start discussions. Theatre, like all art forms, is a very personal and subjective topic. We all have our likes and dislikes, and personal experiences play a massive role in how we see and interpret the world around us. I'm a firm believer that art has a purpose, whether I personally enjoy it or not, and therefore the idea of learning and growing from art that I either don't understand or don't fully connect with really interests me. This industry is constantly changing and evolving and I want to use this blog to not only document these changes, but also to create a safe space to talk about where the art of London theatre is heading and talk about what we need and want from this community.

As a musical theatre student, I feel like I have a unique and young perspective that isn't often heard from as much in a community which is dominated by the professional editors and critics of the world. I want to bring my own voice into the mix and talk about how I really feel as well as inspire others to do the same. Plus, sharing my journey of training and trying to enter into this industry is something that I feel often isn't talked about nearly enough as it should be and so using this platform to discuss that is also of significant importance to me. To sum it up, theatre means a lot to me, so having a platform dedicated specifically to that just makes sense and I'm elated to be going on this journey at long last!

I will have my first review up in the next couple of days which I cannot wait to discuss with you all and hopefully I'll have a few other posts on here over the next couple of weeks too!
